USAR IRNBIS IRCOHR IR

Alphabet(GOOGL,谷歌母公司)的Google Cloud(谷歌云)增速与较低估值构成直接比较。

Microsoft’s (MSFT) Record Rally Puts Alphabet (GOOGL) Rivalry Back In Focus

On July 30, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT ) delivered the single biggest one-day gain any company has ever recorded. Shares jumped more than 15% after the company forecast stronger-than-expected cloud growth and reaffirmed heavy cash generation into its new fiscal year. The move added nearly $450 billion in market value in a single session, pushing the market cap to $3.35 trillion and beating Nvidia's previous record one-day gain of $441 billion, set April 9, 2025. It capped a rough stretch. Heading into that Wednesday's close, Microsoft had trailed its Mag 7 peers, down more than 18% for the year.

Microsoft's (MSFT) Record Rally Puts Alphabet (GOOGL) Rivalry Back In Focus

Bull Case: The Cloud Engine Is Reaccelerating

The rally centers on Azure. Microsoft is guiding to 45% constant-currency growth in its fiscal first quarter for 2027, comfortably ahead of the 40.92% analysts had penciled in, and it left its spending plans untouched: about $50 billion in CapEx for that quarter and $175 billion across calendar 2026. Holding the budget steady while raising the growth outlook is the clearest signal yet that demand is catching up with the data centers Microsoft has been building, easing a worry that has hung over every hyperscaler this year.

The OpenAI relationship still underpins a lot of that story. Microsoft's roughly 27% stake in OpenAI is worth around $230 billion on paper, and ChatGPT's massive usage has fed directly into Azure's growth. Commercial remaining performance obligations, the backlog of contracted revenue not yet booked, doubled to $678 billion, a sign that enterprise customers are locking in AI capacity years in advance rather than testing the waters.

Bear Case: Microsoft Still Hasn't Found Its Own AI Voice

Even after the surge, Microsoft spent most of 2026 lagging the rest of the Mag 7, and one record day does not erase a stock that was down more than 18% through the prior close. The bigger question is identity. Microsoft leaned on its OpenAI partnership rather than building an AI product people associate with its own brand, and that relationship has cooled over the past year. Copilot is embedded across its software lineup, but it has struggled to pull users away from ChatGPT or Claude, even with Microsoft's deep enterprise footprint and a recent pivot toward letting Copilot run on multiple underlying models.

There is also a scale problem building underneath the growth numbers. Azure is now so large that sustaining today's growth rate gets mathematically harder every quarter, and rivals chasing the same cloud and AI workloads are not standing still. A guidance beat this quarter does not guarantee the next one clears an even higher bar.

Story Continues

Where Alphabet Fits Into The Picture

Hedge fund ownership of Microsoft fell from 312 to 282 funds, a pullback even as the stock posted its record-setting day. The comparison point is Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL ), Microsoft's direct rival in cloud infrastructure through Google Cloud versus Azure and in enterprise AI tools, which reported its own cloud acceleration in the same late-July earnings cycle. Powered by surging demand for AI infrastructure and integrated solutions like Gemini Enterprise, Google Cloud revenue soared 82% year-over-year in Q2 2026, driving its Cloud backlog to $514 billion. Supported by an integrated stack featuring home-grown TPU accelerators, custom Axion CPUs, and frontier models processing 22 billion tokens per minute across APIs, Alphabet is capturing enterprise scale, with nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 adopting Gemini Enterprise to fuel a 24% overall rise in total Alphabet revenue. Alphabet's hedge fund count also declined, from 288 to 265, so both names saw funds trim positions heading into results.

Short interest sits low for both, at 1.24% of Microsoft's float versus 1.34% for Alphabet, indicating short activity remains minimal for both names. As of August 5, Microsoft trades at 23.58x forward earnings against Alphabet's 17.36, maintaining a higher multiple than Alphabet. That leaves both stocks trading at notable valuation differences as market conditions evolve.

What Happens After A Record Day

Microsoft's record-setting jump answered the market's main question for this earnings cycle: whether AI spending is starting to convert into results, and Azure's guidance said yes. What it did not answer is whether Microsoft can build an AI identity that is not borrowed from OpenAI, or whether Copilot's multi-model pivot changes its adoption trajectory. For the growth case to hold, Azure needs to keep clearing raised expectations even as its base gets larger.

While we acknowledge the potential of MSFT and GOOGL as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. • GFS

+1.82%

GlobalFoundries Inc. GFS used its second-quarter 2026 earnings call to emphasize accelerating optical networking demand, broader AI data center opportunities and improving profitability through a richer business mix.

The company's second-quarter non-IFRS earnings of 46 cents per share topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 44 cents. Revenues of $1.79 billion also beat the $1.76 billion estimate. The call centered on capacity, technology investments and growth beyond traditional foundry services.

GlobalFoundries Inc. Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

GlobalFoundries Inc. Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise GlobalFoundries Inc. price-consensus-eps-surprise-chart | GlobalFoundries Inc. Quote

GFS Raises Its Data Center Outlook

Communications infrastructure and data center revenues rose more than 60% year over year, driven by silicon photonics and silicon germanium demand.

GlobalFoundries now expects 2026 revenue growth of 50% to 60% for that end market, up from its prior high-30% outlook. The business represented about 16% of second-quarter revenues, with customer demand supporting further investment in high-margin technology corridors.

GlobalFoundries Builds Optical Capacity

The company secured seven optical networking design wins during the quarter and now expects silicon photonics revenues to more than double in 2026.

Asked by a Wolfe Research analyst about expansion timing, chief executive Tim Breen said capacity can be added within existing fabs, allowing GlobalFoundries to increase output without constructing another facility.

A TD Cowen analyst pressed management on the sharp outlook increase. Breen said validation across customers and hyperscalers strengthened confidence, while manufacturing productivity improvements should support higher shipments through 2027.

GFS Leans on Mix to Lift Margins

Non-IFRS gross margin reached 29.9%, up 470 basis points year over year, as technology services, stronger manufacturing mix, cost improvements and utilization supported profitability.

GlobalFoundries now expects full-year gross margin of about 30%, rather than merely reaching that level exiting 2026.

During the Q&A, chief financial officer Sam Franklin told a Cantor Fitzgerald analyst that mix remains the largest margin driver. He also cited roughly 10 percentage points of available utilization, structural cost reductions and pricing increases scheduled to begin affecting revenues in 2027.

GlobalFoundries Expands IP and Power

Breen said the completed acquisition of Synopsys' ARC Processor IP Solutions business deepens the company's RISC-V, software and custom silicon capabilities.

Story Continues

Franklin said MIPS and ARC are expected to contribute $100 million to $120 million to 2026 technology services revenue, above the prior $60 million to $100 million range.

Breen also highlighted the acquired integrated voltage regulator team as a way to move power conversion closer to AI processors. He said the capability complements GlobalFoundries' BCD, GaN and integrated inductor portfolio.

GFS Balances End-Market Shifts

Franklin said automotive revenues fell 10% year over year because of customer shipment timing, but management maintained its low-double-digit 2026 growth outlook with greater fourth-quarter weighting.

Smart mobile device revenues declined 6%, and Franklin now expects a low-teens full-year decrease as handset forecasts weakened amid memory pricing and shortages.

Home and industrial IoT improved 10% year over year. Franklin raised the 2026 growth outlook to 10% to 15%, citing normalized inventory, better demand signals and new production ramps.

GlobalFoundries Funds Growth and Returns Cash

Franklin guided third-quarter revenues to $1.885 billion, plus or minus $25 million, with non-IFRS gross margin of 30.5%, plus or minus 100 basis points.

He projected non-IFRS earnings of 51 cents per share, plus or minus 5 cents, and said second-half operating expenses should remain near the third-quarter level as R&D investment rises.

Franklin also reaffirmed an adjusted free cash flow margin of about 10% for 2026. The board approved another 12-cent quarterly dividend, while roughly $100 million remains under the share repurchase authorization.

GFS Leaves the Call Focused on Execution

Breen's tone remained confident on optical networking, quantum manufacturing and physical AI, but he repeatedly tied growth to the pace of capacity additions and factory productivity.

Franklin framed the next phase around mix improvement, disciplined investment and cost execution, with higher-value technologies carrying more weight in revenue and margins.

What Zacks Rank & Style Scores Signal for GlobalFoundries

GFS currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), a less favorable designation than the Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy) ratings that pair most strongly with A or B Style Scores. Circle Reports Second Quarter 2026 Results

Company

NEW YORK — AUGUST 5, 2026 — Circle Internet Group, Inc. (NYSE: CRCL) today announced results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026.

Financial Highlights (Q2’26 vs. Q2’25)

 • USDC in circulation of $73.3 billion at quarter end, 19% growth year-over-year; USDC onchain transaction volume in Q2’26 of $14.8 trillion grew 151% year-over-year.
 • Total revenue and reserve income in Q2’26 of $701 million grew 7% year-over-year.
 • Net income from continuing operations in Q2’26 of $48 million increased $530 million year-over-year, driven by prior-year IPO stock-based compensation impacts.
 • Adjusted EBITDA in Q2’26 of $143 million grew 8% year-over-year.

Business Highlights

 • Arc today has over 100 ecosystem and institutional builders. September 16 public mainnet launch will unveil a full product suite that includes privacy capabilities, an agent stack for programmable finance, and support for tokenized real-world assets.
 • Network Validators: Circle announced the founding third party validator cohort for Arc today, a curated set of global financial institutions representing a new model for blockchain infrastructure where the institutions that depend on network integrity are also the institutions that secure it. Alongside Circle, validators include: BlackRock, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation, and Visa.
 • Financial Institution Traction: BlackRock, BNY, DTCC, and Standard Chartered each building and exploring integrations with Arc, spanning tokenized asset settlement, digital asset custody, stablecoin access, and FX and repo infrastructure.
 • BlackRock is expected to deploy BUIDL, the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, on Arc.
 • DTCC will enable the tokenization of The Depository Trust Company (DTC)-custodied assets on Arc.
 • New and Expanded USDC Use Cases/Commercial Updates
 • BNY expanded its partnership with Circle, adding USDC minting and redemption directly within BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform, building on BNY's existing role as primary custodian of USDC reserves.
 • Grupo Bind announced a collaboration with Circle to bring USDC access to institutions in Argentina. A major step for USDC/ARS liquidity.
 • JCB combined Circle’s stablecoin infrastructure with JCB's global merchant network, focusing initially on cross-border treasury transfers using USDC and in-store stablecoin payment experiences for merchants and international visitors in Japan.
 • Kakao Group began exploration of blockchain payment infrastructure and USDC integration in Korea.
 • Marex enabled the first stablecoin-powered initial margin transaction in regulated derivatives clearing — allowing institutional clients to post USDC as collateral for CFTC-regulated derivatives under the December 2025 CFTC no-action letter.
 • Nium partnered with Circle to connect USDC settlement with their global payout infrastructure across 190+ countries, permitting financial institutions to move funds via USDC through the Circle Payments Network and settle in local currencies.
 • Standard Chartered launched integrated access to USDC minting and redemption, allowing institutional clients to convert between fiat and USDC through a single bank-led onboarding experience.
 • Trust Bank Approvals: Circle received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish a national trust bank, Circle National Trust, which makes Circle one of the first stablecoin issuers to hold a federal bank charter. The approval authorizes federally regulated digital asset custody and enables future capabilities, including management of the USDC Reserve, which would further enhance the safety, transparency, and trust of USDC. Additionally, Circle received approval from the New York Department of Financial Services to open Circle New York Trust as a digital asset-focused limited purpose trust company.
 • Continued CPN Expansion:   CPN reached $14.7 billion in annualized transaction volume for the trailing 30 days as of the end of Q2, up 76% quarter-over-quarter, with 175 financial institutions enrolled, up 29% quarter-over-quarter.
 • Agentic Economy Momentum: After shipping payment infrastructure for agents in H1, Circle launched Agent Stack in May 2026 — currently home to 900+ paid services — with 99.3% of x402 agent-payment volume settling in USDC. Circle will turn to a more fulsome agentic product roadmap in H2 that includes enabling agents to earn.

“Our quarterly financial results reflect the current rate environment and a crypto market that has slowed – both are conditions outside our network. But near-term activity tells a different story. We received our federal trust bank charter; Arc is launching on public mainnet September 16th; we launched the Agent Stack to put programmable money at the center of the agentic economy; and the institutions using USDC today, like BlackRock, BNY, and Standard Chartered aren't piloting, they are expanding," said Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman at Circle. "We have built the platform for the internet financial system – for traditional and digital finance, real-world assets, and the institutions that move the world's capital. That trust is earned, not assumed, and it took over a decade to build. We're only beginning to see what it unlocks."

Key Financial Results and Operating Indicators

The following table presents our key financial results and operating indicators, as well as the relevant GAAP measures, for the periods indicated:

These statements include, but are not limited to, statements regarding our future operating results and financial position; our plans with respect to the anticipated future expenses and investments; expectations relating to certain of our key financial and operating metrics; our business strategy and plans; expectations relating to legal and regulatory proceedings; expectations relating to our industry, the regulatory environment, market conditions, trends and growth; expectations relating to customer behaviors and preferences; our market position; potential market opportunities; and our objectives for future operations. Forward-looking statements are based on management’s expectations, assumptions, and projections based on information available at the time the statements were made. These forward-looking statements are subject to a number of risks, uncertainties, and assumptions, including, but not limited to: intense and increasing competition from new and existing issuers offering competing products, combined with the rise of yield-bearing digital assets, including TMMFs, that are attractive to digital asset trading participants, may reduce market demand and circulation of Circle stablecoins; stablecoins may face periods of uncertainty, loss of trust, or systemic shocks resulting in the potential for rapid redemption requests (or runs), and extreme scenarios, such as market shocks that affect the value of USDC’s reserves or simultaneous requests to redeem all or substantially all USDC in circulation, or concerns related to Circle stablecoin reserves, may lead to redemption delays and USDC reserves being insufficient to meet all redemption requests; as a relatively new innovation, stablecoins are particularly susceptible to operational challenges and risks, including due to surges in demand; any negative publicity regarding stablecoins or the broader digital asset industry may have an outsized negative effect on consumer confidence; the acceptance of Circle stablecoins could be negatively impacted by disruptions in secondary marketplaces that facilitate the purchase and sale of Circle stablecoins; the GENIUS Act will change the payment stablecoin ecosystem and may affect our business in ways that cannot yet be known; the GENIUS Act amends the U.S. federal securities laws to explicitly exclude from the definition of “security” payment stablecoins issued by PPSIs, which will include USDC, however, until those amendments are effective, we will continue to rely on our conclusion that USDC is not a security under the U.S. federal securities laws; we hold a substantial amount of USDC reserves in the Circle Reserve Fund and thus are subject to risks associated with the issuer, the manager, and the custodian of the Circle Reserve Fund; any significant disruption in our or our third-party service providers’ or partners’ technology could result in a loss of customers or funds and adversely impact our business, results of operations, financial condition, and prospects; our customers’ funds and digital assets may fail to be adequately safeguarded by us or the third-party service providers upon whom we rely; our inability to maintain existing relationships with financial institutions and similar firms or to enter into new such relationships could impact our ability to offer services to customers; we are subject to credit risks in respect of counterparties, including banks and other financial institutions; if we are unable to maintain existing distribution arrangements or enter into additional distribution arrangements on less favorable financial terms, USDC and EURC in circulation and Circle’s financial results may be adversely affected; Arc and the ARC Token involve execution, market, and operational risk, including risks relating to launch timing, ecosystem adoption in a competitive blockchain market, technology and cybersecurity vulnerabilities, validator and governance dynamics, token price volatility, and the operational complexity of running the network and related treasury infrastructure; Arc and the ARC Token present legal, regulatory, and structural risk, including uncertainty under securities and other financial regulatory regimes, risks arising from token presale and distribution arrangements, potential liability tied to third-party ecosystem participants, conflicts and governance issues during any transition to decentralization, and possible repayment obligations if key launch milestones are not achieved; our products and services may be exploited by our customers, employees, service providers, and other third parties to facilitate illegal activity such as fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, gambling, tax evasion, and scams; CIRCLE INTERNET GROUP, INC. – CONDENSED CONSOLIDATED STATEMENTS OF OPERATIONS (unaudited)

Quarterly Results of Operations

The following table summarizes certain key financial performance measures derived from our unaudited quarterly consolidated statements of operations data for each of the three months ended June 30, 2025, September 30, 2025, December 31, 2025, March 31, 2026, and June 30, 2026. The information for each of these periods has been prepared on the same basis as our audited annual consolidated financial statements and, in the opinion of management, reflects all adjustments of a normal, recurring nature that are necessary for the fair statement of the results of operations for these periods.

Non-GAAP Financial Measures

We report our financial results in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”). However, Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted Operating Expenses are non-GAAP financial measures regarding our operational performance.

Management and our board of directors use non-GAAP financial measures to (i) monitor and evaluate the growth and performance of our business operations, (ii) evaluate our historical and prospective financial performance as well as our performance relative to our competitors, (iii) review and assess the performance of our management team and other employees, and (iv) prepare budgets and evaluate strategic investments. Accordingly, we believe that non-GAAP measures provide useful information to investors and others in understanding and evaluating our operating results in the same manner as our management and board of directors. Non-GAAP financial measures, including Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted Operating Expenses, have limitations as financial measures and should not be relied upon as substitutes for, or considered in isolation from, measures calculated in accordance with GAAP.

Adjusted EBITDA

Adjusted EBITDA is calculated as net income (loss) from continuing operations excluding: net income (loss) attributable to noncontrolling interests; depreciation and amortization expenses; interest expense, net of amortization of discounts and premiums; interest income; income tax expense (benefit); stock-based compensation expense and payroll tax expense related to stock-based compensation; certain legal expenses; realized and unrealized (gains) losses, net, on digital assets held for investment, other related investments and strategic investments; realized (gains) losses on available-for-sale debt securities; impairment losses on strategic investments; restructuring expenses; acquisition-related costs; change in fair value of convertible debt, warrant liability, embedded derivatives and U.S. Treasury securities; charitable contributions to Circle Foundation; losses on sale of long-lived assets; and foreign currency exchange (gains) losses.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2026, we have amended the above definition of Adjusted EBITDA to exclude payroll tax expense related to stock-based compensation, because these taxes are directly related to stock-based compensation expense which is already excluded from Adjusted EBITDA. These expenses represent employer payroll taxes related to the vesting and settlement of certain equity awards, and are variable with our stock price and other factors outside of our control.

We believe it is useful to exclude non-cash charges, such as depreciation and amortization, stock-based compensation expense, and change in fair value of various financial instruments as well as certain cash charges such as payroll tax related to stock-based compensation from Adjusted EBITDA because the amount of such expenses in any specific period may not directly correlate to the underlying performance of our business operations. We believe it is useful to exclude income tax expense (benefit), interest income, interest expense, and non-routine items as these items are not components of our core business operations.

Adjusted Operating Expenses

Adjusted Operating Expenses excludes depreciation and amortization, charitable contributions to Circle Foundation, digital assets losses (gains), and stock-based compensation. Beginning in the first quarter of 2026, we have amended the definition of Adjusted Operating Expenses to exclude (a) payroll tax expense related to stock-based compensation, because these taxes are directly related to stock-based compensation expense which is already excluded from Adjusted Operating Expenses and these taxes are variable with our stock price and other factors outside of our control (which will also be reflected in Adjusted EBITDA as discussed above), as well as (b) certain one-time legal expenses, acquisition-related costs, and where relevant, restructuring expenses, as they reflect the same adjustments as in Adjusted EBITDA.

We believe it is useful to exclude certain non-cash charges from Adjusted Operating Expenses because the amount of such expenses in any specific period may not directly correlate to the underlying performance of our business operations.

We have provided a reconciliation below of Adjusted EBITDA to Net Income (loss) from Continuing Operations and of Adjusted Operating Expenses to Operating Expenses, in each case, the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure.

Quarterly Refunding Statement of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Federal Finance Brian Smith

August 5, 2026

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of the Treasury is offering $125 billion of Treasury securities to refund approximately $96.3 billion of privately-held Treasury notes and bonds maturing on August 15, 2026. This issuance will raise new cash from private investors of approximately $28.7 billion. The securities are:

 • A 3-year note in the amount of $58 billion, maturing August 15, 2029;
 • A 10-year note in the amount of $42 billion, maturing August 15, 2036; and
 • A 30-year bond in the amount of $25 billion, maturing August 15, 2056.

The 3-year note will be auctioned at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The 10-year note will be auctioned at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The 30-year bond will be auctioned at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 13, 2026. All these auctions will take place on a yield basis and will settle on Monday, August 17, 2026.

The balance of Treasury financing requirements over the quarter will be met with regular weekly bill auctions, cash management bills (CMBs), and monthly note, bond, Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), and 2-year Floating Rate Note (FRN) auctions.

NOMINAL COUPON AND FRN FINANCING

Treasury believes its current auction sizes leave it well positioned to address potential changes to the fiscal outlook and to the size and composition of the SOMA portfolio. Based on current projected borrowing needs, Treasury anticipates maintaining nominal coupon and FRN auction sizes for at least the next several quarters. Treasury is monitoring SOMA purchases of Treasury bills and growing demand for Treasury bills from the private sector. Looking ahead, Treasury continues to evaluate potential future changes to nominal coupon and FRN auction sizes, with a focus on trends in structural demand and potential costs and risks of various issuance profiles.

The table below presents, in billions of dollars, the actual auction sizes for the May to July 2026 quarter and the anticipated auction sizes for the August to October 2026 quarter:

Treasury plans to address any seasonal or unexpected variations in borrowing needs over the next quarter through changes in regular bill auction sizes and/or CMBs.

TIPS FINANCING

Over the August to October 2026 quarter, Treasury plans to maintain TIPS auction sizes at current levels: the August 30-year TIPS reopening auction size at $8 billion, the September 10-year TIPS reopening auction size at $19 billion, and the October 5-year TIPS new issue auction size at $26 billion.

BILL ISSUANCE

Based on current forecasts, Treasury expects to maintain current auction sizes in benchmark bills in the coming weeks and anticipates potentially issuing a short-dated CMB to meet its cash management needs around the end of August. Given projections for receipts associated with the mid-September corporate and non-withheld tax date, Treasury expects to implement reductions to shorter-dated bill auction sizes during the month of September. In October, Treasury anticipates increasing auction sizes across the bill curve based on expected seasonal fiscal outflows. As always, Treasury will continue to evaluate near-term borrowing needs and assess additional adjustments to bill auction sizes as appropriate.

CASH BALANCE

Treasury is assuming a $950 billion cash balance at the end of September. However, based on current projections for the upcoming refunding quarter, Treasury estimates that the size of the Treasury General Account (TGA) could peak at $1.05 trillion (plus or minus $50 billion) in late October. This figure is consistent with Treasury’s long-standing cash balance policy and is driven by the large outflows expected to occur at that time.

BUYBACKS

Treasury is releasing a tentative buyback schedule for the upcoming refunding quarter. Treasury anticipates that, over the course of the upcoming quarter, it will purchase up to $38 billion in off-the-run securities across buckets for liquidity support and up to $25 billion in the 1-month to 2-year maturity bucket for cash management purposes.

Please send comments or suggestions on these subjects or other subjects related to debt management to debt.management@treasury.gov .

The next quarterly refunding announcement will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Anthropic

The headline figure is $71 billion in chip-lease debt secured in roughly 60 days, but the true story of Anthropic's recent capital expansion lies in the mechanics of the special purpose vehicle. By utilizing these structured finance vehicles, Anthropic has sequestered massive hardware deployments entirely off its corporate balance sheet. This is not corporate debt — it is off-balance-sheet leasing that allows the company to scale its compute capacity without the drag of hardware depreciation on its primary financial statements.

The structure relies on a critical credit enhancement: the Broadcom residual value backstop. In the $35 billion deal closed in June 2026, arranged by Apollo Global Management and Blackstone Credit and Insurance, the SPV acquires Google's tensor processing units and leases them back to Anthropic. The senior tranches — specifically the approximately $6 billion Senior A1 notes and the approximately $24 billion Senior A2 notes — carry a Broadcom endorsement. If Anthropic defaults on its lease payments or if the resale value of the hardware falls short, Broadcom covers the gap. Consequently, these senior tranches functionally carry Broadcom's investment-grade credit rating rather than Anthropic's. The $4.5 billion Class B tranche, which carries no Broadcom support, trades at roughly 8.5 percent — a spread that reveals exactly how much value the backstop removes from the equation. This mechanism is the linchpin that makes $71 billion in private credit accessible to a company still in a cash-burning growth phase, with a $19 billion annualized revenue run rate against estimated compute spending of approximately $45 billion per year.

The market is watching for Anthropic's October 2026 IPO debut — a confidential S-1 filed June 1 with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan leading the underwriting, targeting a public-market valuation anchored at the $965 billion post-money established by its $65 billion Series H raise. But it is essential to distinguish between two parallel capital structures. The IPO raises equity capital for corporate operations. The SPVs raise debt against hardware. These are two separate engines funding the same aggressive compute expansion, and the SPV debt is structurally invisible to public-market investors evaluating the equity story.

The preliminary $36 billion deal Bloomberg reported in early August 2026 follows this same blueprint. Blackstone is leading early investor talks on a second mega-debt package, with deployment targeted at data centers across New York, Texas, Louisiana, and Indiana. The terms are preliminary and subject to change, but the structure mirrors the first deal: SPV acquires TPUs, leases to Anthropic, Broadcom backstops the senior slices. If finalized, Anthropic's total structured-credit exposure to Google hardware alone would exceed $71 billion — among the largest private-credit arrangements ever assembled.

Story Continues

Compute Landlord Thesis, Part Four. We have traced this thesis through increasingly large financial structures: the $10 billion Volta Infra contract that demonstrated a $2.4 billion company can anchor a $10 billion commitment from a nearly trillion-dollar lab; the equity-funded $100 billion-plus scale of SpaceX's 10 GW initiative; and Nvidia's $600 billion in vendor-financed compute exposure to OpenAI. Anthropic's approach is the credit-funded iteration. The Samsung-Broadcom $200 billion supply chain deal shows the hardware side hardening in parallel. Whether through equity, vendor financing, or structured credit, the objective is identical: securing the scarce resource. Anthropic's ability to access $71 billion in private credit in two months — by borrowing Broadcom's balance sheet rather than its own — demonstrates that the funding mechanism is now as important as the hardware it purchases.

 • 亚洲市场中SK Hynix(SKHY,SK海力士)跌约10%,Samsung Electronics(SSNLF,三星电子)跌近6%,韩国综合股价指数受到拖累。
 • 美国市场中Micron(MU,美光)和Seagate(STX,希捷)各跌约4%,AMD(超威半导体)、Intel(英特尔)、Marvell(MRVL,迈威尔)、Arm和Texas Instruments(德州仪器)也走低。

This article first appeared on GuruFocus .

Memory and AI chip stocks fell on Thursday after Sandisk ( NASDAQ:SNDK ) issued revenue guidance that disappointed investors despite reporting better-than-expected quarterly results, dragging semiconductor shares lower across the U.S. and Asia.

The sector-wide pullback followed concerns that AI-driven memory demand may be moderating from exceptionally high expectations.

 • Warning! GuruFocus has detected 3 Warning Signs with SNDK.
 • Is SNDK fairly valued? Test your thesis with our free DCF calculator.

Sandisk shares dropped about 8% after the opening bell, while Western Digital (WDC) tumbled nearly 15% even after topping earnings and outlook estimates. In Asia, SK hynix (SKHY) sank about 10% and Samsung Electronics ( SSNLF ) fell nearly 6%, weighing on South Korea's Kospi index. In U.S. trading, Micron Technology (MU) and Seagate Technology ( NASDAQ:STX ) each declined about 4%, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Intel (INTC), Marvell Technology ( NASDAQ:MRVL ), Arm ( NASDAQ:ARM ), and Texas Instruments (TXN) also traded lower.

The selloff reflected investor concerns over softer memory pricing expectations rather than weakening AI demand. Analysts noted that demand from hyperscale data centers remains resilient, although elevated valuations have left the sector vulnerable to any signs of slowing growth.

Circle Announces Founding Validator Cohort and Major Integrations for Arc Ahead of September 16 Mainnet Launch

Company

BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation, and Visa join Circle as founding validators; major global financial institutions advancing integrations, joining more than 100 ecosystem and institutional builders on Arc private mainnet

‍ NEW YORK — August 5, 2026 — Circle Internet Group, Inc. (NYSE: CRCL) today announced the founding validator cohort for Arc, an open blockchain network built for the world's financial markets, real-time money movement, and agentic economic activity. Arc is currently in private mainnet with more than 100 ecosystem and institutional builders and is on track for a public mainnet launch on September 16, 2026. Together the founding validator cohort and major institutional integrations mark significant milestones as Circle prepares to bring the network to public mainnet.

Alongside Circle, Arc’s founding validator cohort – which includes BlackRock, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation , and Visa — represents a new model for onchain infrastructure: a network secured by the institutions building on it, and creating a foundation for trusted, globally distributed operators to help support secure and scalable onchain financial applications. This model allows Arc to meet the trust, security, operational, and compliance standards required of critical financial market infrastructure.

“The future of money movement will not be defined by a single rail, network or form of value. It will be defined by how effectively they work together. As stablecoins and other digital assets move into real-world payments, settlement, and treasury flows, Mastercard is focused on helping customers operate across an increasingly diverse payments ecosystem. Our participation as a founding validator on Arc reflects that commitment — supporting trusted, interoperable infrastructure that can help connect emerging blockchain networks with the broader financial systems businesses rely on every day,” said Jorn Lambert, Chief Product Officer, Mastercard.

"Arc reflects where the industry is heading: trusted, compliant, and unified infrastructure that makes stablecoins practical for real-world payments," said Anthony Soohoo, Chairman and CEO, MoneyGram. "We're proud to join the network as a validator and help build infrastructure that supports financial institutions and consumers moving money around the world.”

Ole Matthiessen, Global Head of Transaction Services and Digital Assets, at Standard Chartered said: "The convergence of traditional finance and digital assets requires an infrastructure that meets the highest standards expected by regulators and institutions. We welcome the upcoming launch of the Arc Network and are pleased to participate as a founding validator bank. We believe this represents a meaningful step forward in advancing trusted, compliant, and secure on-chain financial applications, helping to unlock new opportunities for digital assets in institutional finance.”

Rubail Birwadker, Global Head of Growth Product and Partnerships at Visa , said: "Arc represents the kind of compliant, high-trust network infrastructure needed to help support the growth of onchain payments. Visa is proud to participate as a validator and help secure it."

TRACTION WITH MAJOR INSTITUTIONS

As an early signal of Arc's potential to become the always-on settlement layer for global finance, Arc is gaining significant traction with major institutions. BlackRock, BNY, DTCC, and Standard Chartered are each exploring unique integrations with the network, spanning tokenized asset settlement, digital asset custody, stablecoin access, and FX and repo infrastructure.

BUIDL Deploys on Arc

BlackRock is expected to deploy BUIDL, the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, on Arc, leveraging the network’s native USDC integration. It enables institutional investors to subscribe, redeem, and deploy fund assets within a single onchain environment — removing friction that has historically limited tokenized fund adoption at scale.

“Stablecoins and tokenized assets are inextricably linked within the future of financial market infrastructure,” said Robert Mitchnick, Global Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock . “Purpose-built rails like Arc can support faster settlement, improved collateral mobility, and broader institutional adoption of digital assets. We’re encouraged by this development and look forward to collaborating with industry participants to help unlock the next phase of digital adoption.”

Integration with DTCC Tokenization Service

Circle is collaborating with DTCC, the premier post-trade market infrastructure for the global financial services industry, to enable the tokenization of The Depository Trust Company (DTC)- custodied assets on Arc beginning in the second half of 2027. The connection is intended to enable market participants to utilize third-party applications on Arc that may enable stablecoin-native settlement outside of DTC but against DTC-tokenized assets. This collaboration reinforces DTCC’s commitment to connecting to onchain ecosystems, including trusted stablecoin issuers like Circle.

The integration is aligned with DTCC’s multi-chain strategy, which is designed to enable market participants to leverage the benefits of blockchain and digital ledger technology, such as accelerated settlement, enhanced asset mobility, extended trading hours, and greater cost and operational efficiencies. DTC-tokenized assets will continue to provide the same protections, rights and safeguards investors receive with traditionally held assets.

“Tokenization can have the greatest impact through open, interoperable networks like Arc that provide market participants with flexibility and choice while meeting our rigorous compliance, transaction throughput, and operational standards,” said Frank LaSalla, DTCC President, CEO and Director . “Our integration with Arc reinforces our commitment to building connected, onchain digital market infrastructure that enables seamless movement of assets and data across ecosystems and lays the foundation for a more efficient, interconnected financial future.”

‍ Permissionless Innovation & Institutional-Grade Infrastructure Come Together

As the platform where open, permissionless innovation, and institutional-grade infrastructure come together, Arc is also set to have a wide range of day-one apps and services expected to be live across a range of verticals in the digital asset ecosystem, including:

 • Leading DeFi protocols and capital allocators, including Aave, Aerodrome, FalconX, Galaxy, GSR, Keyrock, Morpho, Nonco, Uniswap, and XFX powering liquid markets for borrowing, trading, and onchain capital deployment.
 • Stablecoin payments providers, including Rain, Thunes, and Wirex for routing real-world stablecoin payment and settlement flows through Arc, spanning card-based settlement, regulated consumer platforms, and global cross-border payment networks.
 • Major exchanges and wallet providers, including Binance Wallet, Chainlink , Fireblocks, Kraken, Ledger, MetaMask, Uniswap Labs, and Upbit enabling seamless access to USDC on Arc and supporting secure custody and crosschain movement of assets.

"Arc is built on a simple premise: that the global financial system deserves a blockchain network it can trust," said Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Circle . "With some of the world's most respected financial institutions expected to be live securing the network as validators, more than 100 ecosystem and enterprise builders from the world's largest banks, asset managers, and DeFi protocols already building on Arc private mainnet, Arc is ready for a September 16 launch.”

At launch, Circle will unveil a product suite built around Arc as a platform, including a composable app framework for common onchain workflows, AI-powered tools for building applications and smart contracts, capabilities that help asset issuers deploy and manage tokenized real-world assets, and intuitive interfaces that help developers, users, and agents navigate the Arc ecosystem. Arc's architecture is designed to be open and permissionless at its core, enabling the kind of composable innovation that has driven DeFi, while meeting the trust and compliance standards that traditional finance demands — a combination that has not existed on a single network until now.

Footnotes

1. As of March 1, 2016, the daily effective federal funds rate (EFFR) is a volume-weighted median of transaction-level data collected from depository institutions in the Report of Selected Money Market Rates (FR 2420). Prior to March 1, 2016, the EFFR was a volume-weighted mean of rates on brokered trades.

2. Weekly figures are averages of 7 calendar days ending on Wednesday of the current week; monthly figures include each calendar day in the month.

3. Annualized using a 360-day year or bank interest.

4. On a discount basis.

5. Interest rates interpolated from data on certain commercial paper trades settled by The Depository Trust Company. The trades represent sales of commercial paper by dealers or direct issuers to investors (that is, the offer side). The 1-, 2-, and 3-month rates are equivalent to the 30-, 60-, and 90-day dates reported on the Board's Commercial Paper Web page ( www.federalreserve.gov/releases/cp/ ).

6. Financial paper that is insured by the FDIC's Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program is not excluded from relevant indexes, nor is any financial or nonfinancial commercial paper that may be directly or indirectly affected by one or more of the Federal Reserve's liquidity facilities. Thus the rates published after September 19, 2008, likely reflect the direct or indirect effects of the new temporary programs and, accordingly, likely are not comparable for some purposes to rates published prior to that period.

7. Rate posted by a majority of top 25 (by assets in domestic offices) insured U.S.-chartered commercial banks. Prime is one of several base rates used by banks to price short-term business loans.

8. The rate charged for discounts made and advances extended under the Federal Reserve's primary credit discount window program, which became effective January 9, 2003. This rate replaces that for adjustment credit, which was discontinued after January 8, 2003. For further information, see www.federalreserve.gov/boarddocs/press/bcreg/2002/200210312/default.htm . The rate reported is that for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Historical series for the rate on adjustment credit as well as the rate on primary credit are available at www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h15/data.htm .

9. Yields on actively traded non-inflation-indexed issues adjusted to constant maturities. The 30-year Treasury constant maturity series was discontinued on February 18, 2002, and reintroduced on February 9, 2006. From February 18, 2002, to February 9, 2006, the U.S. Treasury published a factor for adjusting the daily nominal 20-year constant maturity in order to estimate a 30-year nominal rate. The historical adjustment factor can be found at home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/financing-the-government/interest-rate-statistics . Source: U.S. Treasury.

10. Yields on Treasury inflation protected securities (TIPS) adjusted to constant maturities. Source: U.S. Treasury. Additional information on both nominal and inflation-indexed yields may be found at home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/financing-the-government/interest-rate-statistics .

11. Based on the unweighted average bid yields for all TIPS with remaining terms to maturity of more than 10 years.

Note: Current and historical H.15 data, along with weekly, monthly, and annual averages, are available on the Board's Data Download Program (DDP) at www.federalreserve.gov/datadownload/Choose.aspx?rel=H15 ). Weekly, monthly and annual rates are averages of business days unless otherwise noted.

Description of the Treasury Nominal and Inflation-Indexed Constant Maturity Series

Yields on Treasury nominal securities at “constant maturity” are interpolated by the U.S. Treasury from the daily yield curve for non-inflation-indexed Treasury securities. This curve, which relates the yield on a security to its time to maturity, is based on the closing market bid yields on actively traded Treasury securities in the over-the-counter market. These market yields are calculated from composites of quotations obtained by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The constant maturity yield values are read from the yield curve at fixed maturities, currently 1, 3, and 6 months and 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 20, and 30 years. This method provides a yield for a 10-year maturity, for example, even if no outstanding security has exactly 10 years remaining to maturity. Similarly, yields on inflation-indexed securities at “constant maturity” are interpolated from the daily yield curve for Treasury inflation protected securities in the over-the-counter market. The inflation-indexed constant maturity yields are read from this yield curve at fixed maturities, currently 5, 7, 10, 20, and 30 years.

Statement on recent attacks on ships in the Red Sea

23 July 2026

Statement on recent attacks on ships in the Red Sea

Renewed attacks on international shipping in the region are "indefensible", says IMO Secretary-General.

The Red Sea is a critical maritime corridor for international trade.

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, issued the following statement:

“I unequivocally condemn the latest reported attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea area. These attacks are indefensible. They endanger the lives of seafarers, while threatening the security of international shipping, the marine environment and the stability of global supply chains.

Seafarers are civilians performing essential work that sustains economies and communities worldwide. Ship operators must thoroughly assess risks before transiting the region. Seafarers must never be placed in harm’s way or targeted in situations of conflict or instability.

I also renew my call for the immediate and unconditional release of all seafarers who continue to be held captive following piracy attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden region. Ensuring their safety is a fundamental obligation under international law and a shared responsibility of the global community.

The Red Sea is a critical maritime corridor for international trade. Continued attacks on shipping in this region risk escalating tensions, further disrupting commercial routes and undermining the principle of freedom of navigation.

De-escalation is the only solution.

I am equally concerned about the potential pollution from these reported incidents in the Red Sea and previous incidents in the Strait of Hormuz area.  IMO will continue to monitor the situation and stands ready to assist as necessary.”

EMBARGOED UNTIL RELEASE AT 8:30 a.m. EDT, Thursday, July 30, 2026

BEA 26—35

GDP (Advance Estimate), 2nd Quarter 2026

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 1.5 percent in the second quarter of 2026 (April, May, and June), according to the advance estimate released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). In the first quarter, real GDP increased 2.1 percent.

The contributors to the increase in real GDP in the second quarter were increases in consumer spending, investment, and exports that were partly offset by a decrease in government spending. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, increased. For more information, refer to the " Technical Notes " below.

Compared to the first quarter, the deceleration in real GDP in the second quarter reflected a downturn in government spending and decelerations in investment and exports that were partly offset by an acceleration in consumer spending. Imports increased more in the second quarter than in the first quarter.

Real final sales to private domestic purchasers , the sum of consumer spending and gross private fixed investment, increased 3.9 percent in the second quarter, compared with an increase of 1.7 percent in the first quarter.

The price index for gross domestic purchases increased 5.7 percent in the second quarter, compared with an increase of 3.6 percent in the first quarter. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index increased 5.1 percent, compared with an increase of 4.6 percent, and the PCE price index excluding food and energy increased 3.4 percent, compared with an increase of 4.4 percent.

Next release: August 26, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. EDT

GDP (Second Estimate) and Corporate Profits, 2nd Quarter 2026

Technical Notes

Sources of change for real GDP

Real GDP increased at an annual rate of 1.5 percent (0.4 percent at a quarterly rate 1 ) in the second quarter, reflecting increases in consumer spending, investment, and exports that were partly offset by a decrease in government spending. Imports increased.

More information on the source data and BEA assumptions that underlie the second-quarter estimate is shown in the key source data and assumptions table.

 • The increase in consumer spending reflected increases in both goods and services.
 • Within goods, the increase was led by other nondurable goods (mainly, prescription drugs), based on Census Bureau Monthly Retail Trade Survey (MRTS) data for all three months of the quarter; motor vehicles and parts (led by new light trucks), based primarily on Wards Intelligence unit sales data and IHS-Polk registrations data; and furnishings and durable household equipment (led by furniture), based on Census Bureau MRTS data.
 • Within services, the leading contributors to household consumption expenditures were food services and accommodations, based on Census Bureau MRTS data, and financial services and insurance (led by portfolio management), based primarily on trade volume data. There was also an increase in final consumption expenditures of nonprofits, led by gross output for professional advocacy.
 • The increase in investment primarily reflected increases in equipment and intellectual property products that were partly offset by decreases in private inventory investment and nonresidential structures.
 • Within equipment, increases were widespread, led by industrial equipment, transportation equipment, and information processing equipment, based primarily on data for imports from the Census Bureau-BEA U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services report and the Census Bureau Advance Economic Indicators Report for June.
 • The increase in intellectual property products reflected increases in software (mainly, prepackaged software) and research and development, based primarily on a judgmental trend and Bureau of Labor Statistics Current Employment Statistics.
 • The largest contributor to the decrease in private inventory investment was wholesale trade, based primarily on Census Bureau inventory book value data.
 • The decrease in nonresidential structures was led by manufacturing structures, based on Census Bureau Value-Put-In-Place construction spending data for April and May and a BEA projection for June.
 • Exports and imports primarily reflected Census Bureau-BEA U.S. International Trade in Goods and Services data as well as the Census Bureau Advance Economic Indicators Report for June.
 • Within exports, the increase reflected an increase in goods (led by petroleum and related products) that was partly offset by a decrease in services (led by travel and other business services, mainly financial services).
 • Within imports, the increase primarily reflected an increase in goods, led by capital goods, except automotive (mainly telecommunications equipment, semiconductors and related devices, and industrial equipment).
 • Within government spending, the decrease was led by federal government spending, primarily reflecting nondefense consumption expenditures. The pattern of nondefense spending primarily reflected sales of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, based on data from the Department of Energy. Within the National Economic Accounts, sales are deducted from government consumption expenditures; therefore, an increase in sales results in a corresponding decrease in consumption expenditures. Because the oil sold by the government is reflected as an increase in other components of GDP, there is no direct effect on GDP.

Personal Income and Outlays, June 2026

Personal income increased $54.9 billion (0.2 percent at a monthly rate) in June, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Disposable personal income (DPI) —personal income less personal current taxes—increased $48.3 billion (0.2 percent), and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $65.2 billion (0.3 percent).

The increase in current-dollar personal income in June primarily reflected increases in compensation, personal income receipts on assets, and government social benefits that were partly offset by a decrease in farm proprietors’ income.

The $65.2 billion increase in current-dollar PCE in June reflected increases of $58.2 billion in spending on services and $7.0 billion in spending on goods.

Real PCE increased $68.0 billion ( 0.4 percent at a monthly rate) in June.

Personal Income and Outlays, July 2026

Technical Notes

Changes in personal income and outlays for June

The June increase of $54.9 billion in personal income primarily reflected increases in compensation, personal income receipts on assets, and government social benefits that were partly offset by a decrease in farm proprietors’ income.

 • Within compensation, the increase was led by private wages and salaries based on Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Current Employment Statistics (CES).
 • The increase in personal income receipts on assets reflected increases in both dividend income and interest income.
 • Within government social benefits, the leading contributors to the increase were Medicare, based on data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Budget of the U.S. Government, and social security benefits, based on data from the Social Security Administration.
 • The decrease in farm proprietors’ income reflected the pattern of payments to farmers from the American Relief Act of 2025 .

Revisions to personal income

Estimates have been updated for April and May reflecting updated BLS CES data. Revisions to government social benefits were led by Medicaid benefits, reflecting updated data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as well as new Monthly Treasury Statement data.

The Federal Open Market Committee approved the following statement for release by a 9 – 3 vote:

The Committee decided to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 percent, in support of the Federal Reserve's dual mandate. The Committee is continuing its policy of maintaining ample reserves in the banking system.

Economic activity is expanding at a solid pace despite elevated uncertainty that owes, in part, to the conflict in the Middle East. Productivity growth and capital investment are strong. Job gains have kept pace with the workforce, and the unemployment rate has changed little.

Inflation remains elevated relative to the Committee's 2 percent goal, in part reflecting supply shocks that have driven price increases in certain sectors, including energy. The Committee will deliver price stability.

Voting against the monetary policy action were Beth M. Hammack, Neel Kashkari, and Lorie K. Logan, who preferred to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by 1/4 percentage point at this meeting.

THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION - JUNE 2026

Both total nonfarm payroll employment (+57,000) and the unemployment rate (4.2 percent)

changed little in June, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment

continued to trend up in professional and business services, social assistance, and health

care. Leisure and hospitality lost jobs.

This news release presents statistics from two monthly surveys. The household survey measures

labor force status, including unemployment, by demographic characteristics. The establishment

survey measures nonfarm employment, hours, and earnings by industry. For more information

about the concepts and statistical methodology used in these two surveys, see the Technical

Note.

Household Survey Data

Both the unemployment rate, at 4.2 percent, and the number of unemployed people, at 7.1

million, changed little in June. These measures also changed little over the year.

(See table A-1.)

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates showed little or no change in June for

adult men (3.9 percent), adult women (3.7 percent), teenagers (14.6 percent), and people who

are White (3.6 percent), Black (6.6 percent), Asian (3.9 percent), or Hispanic (5.2 percent).

(See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) changed little at 1.9

million in June but is up by 286,000 over the year. The long-term unemployed accounted for

27.3 percent of all unemployed people in June. (See table A-12.)

The labor force participation rate decreased by 0.3 percentage point to 61.5 percent in June,

and the employment-population ratio edged down by 0.2 percentage point to 59.0 percent. Both

measures changed little over the year after accounting for annual population control

adjustments. (See table A-1.)

The number of people employed part time for economic reasons changed little at 4.7 million in

June. These individuals would have preferred full-time employment but were working part time

because their hours had been reduced or they were unable to find full-time jobs.

(See table A-8.)

In June, the number of people not in the labor force who currently want a job changed little

at 6.0 million. These individuals were not counted as unemployed because they were not

actively looking for work during the 4 weeks preceding the survey or were unavailable to take

a job. (See table A-1.)

Among those not in the labor force who wanted a job, the number of people marginally attached

to the labor force changed little at 1.8 million in June. These individuals wanted and were

available for work and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months but had not looked

for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey. The number of discouraged workers, a subset of

the marginally attached who believed that no jobs were available for them, was essentially

unchanged in June at 477,000. (See Summary table A.)

Establishment Survey Data

Total nonfarm payroll employment changed little in June (+57,000), roughly in line with the

average monthly change over the prior 12 months (+36,000). In June, employment continued to

trend up in professional and business services, social assistance, and health care. Employment

in leisure and hospitality declined. (See table B-1.)

Employment in professional and business services continued to trend up in June (+36,000). The

industry has added 172,000 jobs since a recent low in October 2025.

Social assistance added 25,000 jobs in June, primarily in individual and family services

(+17,000). Over the prior 12 months, social assistance had added an average of 16,000 jobs per

month.

In June, employment in health care continued its upward trend (+22,000) but at a slower pace

than the average monthly gain over the prior 12 months (+38,000). In June, hospitals added

9,000 jobs.

Leisure and hospitality employment declined by 61,000 in June, reflecting weaker than usual

seasonal hiring. Thus far in 2026, employment in the industry has shown little net change.

Employment showed little or no change over the month in other major industries, including

mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction; construction; manufacturing; wholesale trade;

retail trade; transportation and warehousing; information; financial activities; other

services; and government.

In June, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 13

cents, or 0.3 percent, to $37.64. Over the year, average hourly earnings have increased by 3.5

percent. In June, average hourly earnings of private-sector production and nonsupervisory

employees rose by 7 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $32.38. (See tables B-3 and B-8.)

The average workweek for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls was unchanged at 34.3 hours

in June. In manufacturing, the average workweek edged down to 40.3 hours, and overtime edged

up to 3.2 hours. The average workweek for production and nonsupervisory employees on private

nonfarm payrolls declined by 0.1 hour to 33.7 hours. (See tables B-2 and B-7.)

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for April was revised down by 31,000, from

+179,000 to +148,000, and the change for May was revised down by 43,000, from +172,000 to

+129,000. With these revisions, employment in April and May combined is 74,000 lower than

previously reported. (Monthly revisions result from additional reports received from

businesses and government agencies since the last published estimates and from the

recalculation of seasonal factors.)

2026 Preliminary Benchmark Revision to Establishment Survey Data

to be published on August 28, 2026

Each year, the establishment survey estimates are benchmarked to comprehensive counts of

employment from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) for the month of

March. These counts are derived from state unemployment insurance (UI) tax records that

nearly all employers are required to file. At 10:00 a.m. (ET) on August 28, 2026, the

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) will publish the preliminary estimate of the upcoming

annual benchmark revision to the establishment survey data. This is the same day that the

first-quarter 2026 data from QCEW will be issued. Official establishment survey estimates

are not updated based on this preliminary benchmark revision.

The final benchmark revision will be issued with the publication of the January 2027

Employment Situation news release in February 2027.
